Additional Information

This is one of my earlier explorations of mirror. A portrait of one of my favourite Australian authors, Patrick White. A visual interpretation of his auto-biography ‘Flaws in the Glass: A Self-Portrait’.

Ever since I read The Vivisector, I’ve admired Patrick White’s depiction of the turmoil of the creative mind. He somehow captured the artist’s quirks, inability to conform, determination, expressiveness, solitude, passions, failings, triumphs and desires with incredible accuracy.

I feel there is a little bit of every one of us in the flaws he attributes to himself – hence shards of mirror in his fractured image.
