The trees of Orquevaux by Minuella Chapman – The ‘noir et blanc’ series of mixed media drawings were created during my artist residency in north-eastern France at Chateau Orquevaux. The inspiration for these drawings was the immediate landscape and surrounds of the village of Orquevaux and the painter Mondrian.
Prior to travelling down to Orquevaux, I spent a few days in Paris visiting galleries and museums, including ‘The Figurative Mondrian’ at Paris Musee Marmottan Monet and discovered his love affair with landscape and in particular trees.
The ‘noir et blanc’ series are all original, created during my residency in France and all artworks are unframed.
The drawings are made using quality inks and acrylic paints on Arches 300gsm Aquarelle Watercolour 100% cotton paper.
