The Hamptons by Carita Farrer Spencer

An original commissioned artwork.

My client was leaving Bayside Melbourne to relocate to a beautiful new home that she and her family had built in Sydney. She wanted a very large artwork for her dining room that would reflect her love of Hamptons-style interiors. During our discussions I found out she had a penchant for horses and liked muted soft greys and blues. She was very happy to leave the rest up to me, but did request that there be a little bit of Melbourne somehow incorporated into the artwork. I decided to add the view of the city and the Brighton Beach boxes as she had been living in beautiful Melbourne Bayside and was quite sad about leaving. The 4 horses are representative of her herself, her husband and her two young daughters. I wanted to create an emotional piece, that would conjure strong memories of the past combined with a contemporary interpretation of a wonderful new journey.

This painting now takes pride of place in a beautiful dining room in Sydney. It’s always such an honour to create a bespoke artwork and have it become part of someone’s story.
