Additional Information

Terraform by Olga Megele – The term “terraforming” was originally coined in the early 1940s. The terraforming hypothesis describes the deliberate geoengineering of a planet’s hostile environment into one that could support human life. The Red Planet (Mars) might thus be transformed into a Blue Planet!
Terraform, takes a futuristic view of the Anthropocene—one steeped in reflection, remorse and hope. Terraform considers the possibility of realising terraform science success, and the confronting dichotomies inherent to such ‘success’. The splendid beauty of a new creation is coupled with an acknowledgement that it is too late to save the Earth. In the hope for a ‘terraformed-future’ there must be a relinquishing of the ‘Earth-past’. Betrayal of the old overlays nurture of the new; remorse and loss couples with impenitence and hope.
In Terraform, the universe is stretched, there are tears, pockets of explosion, time is in turmoil and creation is at the centre. It is a fierce beauty. The birth of the child has triggered the death of the mother. Are those echoes of what has been, or calls of what is to come? Cyclic ruminations tie humanity to ‘home’, yet consequences push humanity to explore beyond. ‘Home’ is now survival, and memories are irrelevant encumbrances.

Signed with a certificate of authenticity. Acrylic Paint on canvas, ready to hang. The surface has been covered with a protective layer of acrylic sealer which has enhanced the beautiful, rich colour.
