Additional Information

Swift River 3 by Victoria Collins: Afternoon weakens the sky to pastel and plunges riverbank shadows into deepest aubergine and turquoise of exquisite richness, leaving only the most delicate of warm highlights to skim the surfaces.

The inspiration for this piece is the Tumut River, NSW, part of the Snowy Hydro. The darks are deep eggplant/aubergine purple and maroon tones with an ochre yellow underpainting.

The piece is on quality unstretched Italian linen which I find gives a superior colour quality and softness of stroke. There is ample material round the edges of the work to accommodate any framing choice or just simple stretch over deep edges.

I prefer to work on unstretched material for the freedom of size and shape, and also because shipping requires less or no bubblewrap and therefore is more sustainable with less waste.
