• Sunflowers And The Swipe Of A Blade Low Res By Cw

Additional Information

Sunflowers and the swipe of a blade by Catherine Whitting,  for the St James Whitting Art Collection – is a culmination of community connectivity during covid19. Acrylic, gouache, oil, watercolour, chalk on paper

Catherine Whitting shares her love of art online with Kate St James and a small community of local and international art lovers who join her monthly online from Sydney to Spain and London to Lismore, to connect, create and complete artist’s studies with a twist (of gin and tonic!).

Sunflowers is a deconstruction of a still life of Australian proteas and brilliant bold sunflowers. The two hour online workshop took the participants on a journey of fabulous fuchsia, adventurous aqua and sunburst Van Gogh-inspired yellows in heavy impasto palette application, then in a flurry of excitement Whitting transformed the perfectly picturesque still life in a two minute whirlwind with the swipe of blade hiding its realism, revealing its truth and concealing the concept behind its creation. Look inside the texture and discover layers of flora that maintain inner beauty and colourful whimsy after total dissection.
Other sizes are available.

Hand signed and numbered by the artist in pencil – Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.

Your order is custom printed for you on purchase – Packaged in acid free paper and reinforced postal tubing.
