Still Standing by Lucinda Leveille is a still life with a difference – this rather sad sunflower still has a bit of colour in the old girl yet! The delicious turquoises are set off by the deep rich red oranges found hidden in the leaves of this sunflower. Subtle complementary tones of these two colours make for a vibrant and exciting piece.
I have painted a limited sunflower series relating back to my theme of the single object in the landscape. This series has much to do with the floods we experienced, followed by the bushfires and then to top it off Covid 19 !
There are many reasons why I chose the sunflower for this series – they are drought and heat tolerant, making them perfect for the tough Australian conditions we have – they can also be used for medicine, cooking and making pigments! But their resilience and their strength is something to be admired.
I hope this artwork inspires strength and determination in your life as your eyes wander over the canvas.

As with all of my works, this is an original and a one of a kind, I do not make prints from any of my works.
The paintings are signed on the front with my name ‘Lucinda’ and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. I only use Artist quality materials in the creation of my artwork – archival, quality paper for my watercolours, well prepared supports for my oil paintings and both are painted using artist pigments.
The artworks on gallery style stretched canvas, do not require framing and are ready to hang, however, a box frame on this style of canvas can dress the painting really well.
The piece will arrive cocooned in bubble wrap and packed within a sturdy cardboard container, sometimes recycled ( I like to recycle), any glass will be taped to help prevent breakage, it may not be the prettiest on the outside but the contents will arrive safe and sound.
