SPOONING – Sue Hill

This original charcoal and acrylic piece is painted on stretched canvas.

The idea of drawing and painting spoons came to me one day when I had my grandchildren here for a swim.   They love to dive into the water to retrieve as many spoons as possible in one breath.   I noticed the distorted shapes and reflections as I gathered them up and decided it could be an interesting subject to paint.  I began by sketching out in charcoal the spoon shapes and patterns, sealing the layers several times with sprays of universal varnish and then using acrylic colours.

The painting is signed on the back and is wired, ready to hang. The shallow sides are painted in black.
