Additional Information

This is one of Jasmine’s favourite pieces that she has created. The Snakeskin Shoes was drawn in 2015, and so far, she has held onto it tightly for herself. But circumstances have changed (a pending house renovation will remove the wall it is currently hanging on) and so she has decided to list this piece nearly three years later. This is an intricately detailed yet beautifully sleek piece. The subject is simple – a pair of everyday work shoes – but the simplistic nature of the composition is what makes this piece so striking. The fine details in the leather can only be appreciated up close and the laces were a lesson in patience even for someone with boundless patience for creating artworks.

The Snake Shoes are hand-drawn ink pen on paper using traditional shading techniques. This piece has been mistaken for a black and white photograph on many occasions.
