In this self portrait, the destruction of my face after completion speaks about the objectification of women in historic works that displayed the female nude, for the purpose of male gratification, under the guise of moralising. It also has implications of self-objectification in selfie culture and the persistent problem that this calls to mind about the value of women being tied to their beauty and implied sexual availability.
