Romance of the Pines – Helen Stephens

Professional quality acrylic paints, mediums and varnishes with a professional quality stretched canvas.

This artwork is an original, large, contemporary, modern landscape inspired by those pines and waterways just within an easy drive of home. So very beautiful and while viewing this one you will feel like you have actually escaped for a while to a secret place where the magic of the day has time to unfold in front of you as the clouds roll in. Often times those dirt roads around the dams are worth the dust! Loving the apricot skies and washes of colour over the countryside and beyond, as far as the eye can see!

Over one hundred years ago, the countryside outside of Brisbane, near Marburg, Tallegalla and Pine Mountain, was covered in massive pine trees…..sawmills, long gone, milled the wood and most of the townships and structures were constructed with these beautiful timbers. The remnants of those forests are scattered throughout the countryside, standing out in the the gullies, ridges and hilltops, still growing strong, dark green and tall….I love country landscapes that naturally develop, yet look so pleasing in composition.

This artwork has the view extended around the edges which gives it a 3D effect……some of my paintings I leave unframed as one local gallery owner said “sometimes a frame just fences it in”  and I know what she means here!

Very difficult to capture the depth of these clouds in a one dimensional photograph…….please enjoy!
