Peperoncino by Natasha Zraikat. Original Oil Sketch on Paper. This is a small portrait of my dear little rat named Peperoncino. Peperoncino means chili in Italian, and it fit his character perfectly. He was super active always going at a million miles an hour. An inquisitive, sweet little boy with a heart of gold. He pretended not to love cuddles but always wanted to be near us. He wanted constant affection, but on his own terms. I loved him with all my heart. He was a tough little thing right up until the very end, when an ear infection spread and eventually got the better of him after a long battle. I miss him every day, and have a little wooden heart in my workspace in honour of his precious little life. He taught me to accept distance, to love differently, to let go. He showed me how much a tiny creature could bury his way into my heart.

This work is on a large sheet of oil painting paper (40 x 30cm), and can be cut or framed to smaller dimensions if desired.
