‘One Green Shoot’ is inspired by the stillness and calm in the bush after the recent fires. Walking through the tangle of twisted branches, blackened trees and burnt leaves a mass of rhythmic lines, shapes and intense colours emerged. I was drawn to one green shoot contrasting with the orange black and grey tones of the foliage. The single green shoot a symbol of fragility and renewal. I picked up burnt sticks and used them to draw back into my painting.
