On white blossom days I think of you by Jude Willis

Painted using mixed media this is an original abstracted botanical work on paper incorporating Western Yellow Robins.

Regular walks through Southwest Australia ecoregions such as Wellington National Park, the Torndirrup National Park and the Bibbulmun Track inform my artworks. The beauty I have encountered being inspiration for ongoing development of my art practice.

In these works I’m investigating themes of beauty, escapism, impermanence, pattern and ecosystem linkage.

It is a multi-layered piece which would sit well in both contemporary and traditional living spaces.

I am inspired by nature and in particular the Arts and Crafts Movement (including the work of William Morris) and the Art Nouveau works of practitioners such as Charles Rennie Macintosh and Gustav Klimt. More contemporary influences include the work of Kurt Jackson, Makiko Kuko and Firelei Báez.

These influences are reflected in the patterning and design motifs which characterise my work.

The work is mixed media on 300gsm arches paper.
