Night Lights by Marguerite Bonwick is an eye catching contemporary abstract expressionist piece in jubilant rich oil colours , these paintings are textured due to the nature of oil paint. From my ” Happy Place” series which I began in 2018. I painted Nights Lights after a night out on a Sydney Harbour cruise with friends, the lights of the city are captivating and inspiring and they emerged subconsciously a week later.
An abstract action painting, born through abstract thinking, where I just let go and allow the artwork to emerge and tell me a story. There is no pressure nor expectation of what it becomes. I really just let go and enjoy the evolution through the act of applying colour and of painting. My abstract pieces are heavily based on my own thoughts and feelings, explored through colour and design.
