‘Myanmar Monks’ by David Kirkland photographer.

I gave a large print of this photograph to my son for his birthday as it’s one of my favourite images (it also made the short-list for the richest photographic competition in the world). Just look at the expression on the faces of each of the young Myanmar monks – the joy, the determination, the envy and the resignation that maybe I’ll never jump that high. Even the tiny eye of surprise on the young monk standing. It captures, for eternity, a precious, unguarded moment I was gifted which continues to remind me of why I enjoy photography.

Nola is the Papua New Guinean with the striking features who’s holding the mask in this photo.
