Muse in green by Marijke Lambregtse.

Brisbane Portrait Prize Salon des Refusés 2022 finalist

Original acrylic painting on stretched canvas, framed and ready to hang

signed on the back.

For Muse in green I used my younger self as the muse, when I still was a professional dancer in Holland. When I stopped dancing we wanted to live self sufficient and live from the land, hence our migration to Australia. Since then I always have been concerned with conservation and climate change. Since my visual arts education this is what my art has mostly been about. For this painting I wrapped the muse in a shawl of greens, meadows, pastures etc. A warm blanket for the future we desperately need. There’s also most of the time a vessel of some kind somewhere to find in my work, this being symbolic for keeping precious things close to the heart. The colours chosen will brighten and liven up any room in the house as well as give the viewer(s) food for thought!
