It is my intention in making this ceramic sculpture to evoke a feeling of being locked in or constrained either physically or mentally.  This is a feeling that many of us experienced during the Covid lockdowns of 2020 and 2021.

Both hand building and wheel throwing techniques have been employed in the making process.   The interior of the ring has been finished with a copper/soda glaze which, after firing has been treated with hydrochloric acid designed to attack the copper in the glaze to produce a patina similar to bronze sculptures.  This green patina may continue to grow slightly over time, especially if placed outdoors.

Locked In is an original, abstract ceramic sculpture.
