Inside story of a pink protea is painted in watercolour on black Canson 300gsm paper. The painting size is 20cm x 28cm.
Framed in a 2cm deep smooth black frame, glass, an acid-free ivory mount, foamboard backing and ready to hang. The external frame size is 31cm x 38cm.
A certificate of authenticity is adhered to the back.

I’m fascinated with proteas and have learned that they go back 300 million years! To find the inside story of this protea I have dissected this wildflower and learned they are not a single flower, but hundreds of flowers clustered in one base. The petals we see on the outside are actually coloured leaves that hug the flowers and are known as floral bracts.

I love to paint all things to do with nature, birds, animals, landscapes, seascapes and of late especially flowers! I strive to capture that “zing” and continually stop-start waiting for that moment when my work makes that elusive connection with me, and then… hope it will touch you too!
