Industrial Relations by Mary Conner – Emus are one of my favourite birds, I see plenty of them roaming around the plains of Western Queensland. In this piece I wanted to emphasise their curiosity, one of their most notable features, they can be up and in your face when they are used to people being around, especially if you have food. I love a good rusty homemade structure so the emu was the perfect choice and clearly the relationship between him and the other native emus is a little rusty too and they have their backs to him and are moving away in a group. Western Queensland is littered with little abandoned railway stations like this one so it seemed a natural inclusion. It’s varnished, the sides are painted, signed on the front and ready to hang with wire across the front. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
