Impact

Inspired by the doomsday predictions of an asteroid impacting the Earth. Original artwork and my version illustrating the impact of large asteroid or small planet colliding with the earth.

The end of the world has been predicted by many individuals and those times and dates have come and gone. However, science is under no illusion that this fate could be upon us at any time. The universe is a shooting gallery and the earth could be once again the impact point for a large object. As with the extinction of the dinosaurs, the same fate could usher mans final destiny.

Another impact is more of when and not if, and the moon is a testament to past impacts and even the earth has the scares to show. This painting is my vision of what such an impact could look like if ever the earth or other planet were ever hit by a large object. Nature is recycling at every turn, destruction leads to rebirth and so the cycle goes on, every part of our universe is recycling in one form or another.  We would hope that when this ever comes to the earth we may be able to witness the event from a new home on some distant planet far far away.

Each time you look at my paintings you will see hidden between the shadows the delicate blends of light and dark colours giving the illusion of a 3d world.  My inspiration comes from many sources and I never see the finished image in my head before I start a painting, The image develops over time a transition of ideas with form and function as my guide.
