Additional Information

Whales are the charismatic megafauns of the sea that everyone loves to watch and listen to. Especially the humpback whales, as they are famous for their acrobatic displays and beautifully haunting song. I absolutely love when a whale is swimming in the upper layer of the ocean and the sunlight plays across the surface of their body. I had so much fun with this piece trying to capture that play of sunlight. Also the incredible blues of the deep ocean and how it reflects and plays across the large body of a humpback whale were a big part of this drawing. The grace of such a large animal is mesmerising to watch, and no where but the deep salty ocean water could hold such a large being and allow it to be to agile and elegant.

This original illustration was drawn using Derwent Procolour pencils on paper. The drawing is 29.7 x 42 cm (A3) and is unframed.
