Horny Cow by Jules Baldwin
My Art is very much related to my imagination as much as it is to my love of nature and all the wonder that is to be found within.

My mark making is a way to show the energy surrounding us all and I have found myself intuitively drawing with a sense of joy and freedom that has definitely become much more present in my work since arriving back from our trip around Oz. Forever intertwined with all there is, what I see and what I feel as I realise that my connection to nature has strengthened and with it my need to show all that is felt as well as seen informing my Art more than ever.

Horny cow is part of the Moor’al series, a re imagining of many of the studies I painted for various different markets and venues as I was travelling. I have three cows in this colourful series, all of them representing the beautiful creatures we encountered on our many camping spots. Horny cow came from a photograph that was taken by a very good friend of mine, people often send me photos of cows as I have drawn/painted them a lot, especially since travelling. I have many other photos that I have taken but the expression on this beautiful cows face was one I had to draw many times and eventually it became this extremely colourful version! Brahman cattle can adapt well to any climate, particularly high temperatures and humidity. Their glossy coat reflects light and their skin is loose with special sweat glands to keep them cool, we found them to be the most friendly too, often strolling over to us and almost posing for photographs. well I like to think so anyway! I found the world in their eyes though, a wealth of knowledge and a softness that drew me in time and time again. I love that I can finally make the space to ensure they are given the colour they deserve and the fabulousness we should all admire! If you have read this far then please let me know if you have a special cow you would like me to bring to life with colour, movement and texture, oh and Sass, they must have sass!

Mixed media on MDF board with added timber on the back to hold the wire, ready for hanging, this looks fabulous as it is however…This piece can be framed on request, you will find pictures of the paintings framed and unframed in the images.
