Additional Information

Glossy Black Cockatoo – ORIGINAL watercolour painting by Nadya Neklioudova – This original watercolour painting was inspired by a photo I took last year in Brisbane’s Toohey Forest – when flocks of vulnerable Glossy Black Cockatoos came here in search of casuarina seeds. This female Cockatoo looks very proud of herself, enjoying a feast of seeds, and showing off her wings and gorgeous tail feathers. In this artwork, she is a symbol of hope.

Glossy Black Cockatoo populations have been declining mostly due to land clearing that has removed the trees they use for a food source and nesting sites. It is one of our more threatened species of cockatoo in Australia, and is declared vulnerable in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, and endangered in South Australia and across Australia.

This is the original painting on high quality Fabriano Artistico paper. Details were added with watercolour pencil and gouache.

It is not yet framed – ready for you to choose a frame that suits your home best.
