My mark making is a way to show the energy surrounding us all and I have found myself intuitively drawing with a sense of joy and freedom that has definitely become much more present in my work since arriving back from our trip around Oz. Forever intertwined with all there is, what I see and what I feel as I realise that my connection to nature has strengthened and with it my need to show all that is felt as well as seen informing my Art more than ever’
Entangled is one of two in the botanical series that I have been waiting to have framed.They are on MDF 4mm board and definitely needed the extra width and depth the beautiful Tasmanian oak frame has given them.
The inspiration behind these works as most of my work was inspired by our trip around Australia, we have seen so much beauty it has been so hard for me to work out what to start with so at this time I am sizing up smaller sketches I made as we travelled.
We travelled in a caravan so there were times I would sketch outdoors and really special moments where I could use my easel and paint plein air which i adored of course.
I discovered posca pens before we left on our trip because I knew I would have to adapt to how I paint and find my quiet side! This has, as you will see by the rest of my work, evolved into an amalgamation of both my painting techniques and my love of the line.
However this work was just the pens and many many layers were put down before i was happy that the work came alive and expressed that sense of joy I felt as I experienced so much beauty and diversity in this amazing country of ours.
