Additional Information

This one has a story! The Nishijin Textile Centre in Kyoto has a large wall-hanging of woven fabrics based on what appear to be the fletchings of arrows. Saw this in 2006…very impressive! [1st image] I tried copying the idea using traditional Japanese patterns but while it was visually interesting it did not feel like me. It was also too soft/boofy and lacked the presence of the original. [2nd image] Using the framework I had created in Illustrator I revisited the idea again in 2016 but employed all my own resources bar one: the playful, though rather fierce-looking temple dogs, are the work of Hokusai. Different gradients [how surprising!] fill the fletching shapes and background contains a bustle of things, even winter branches in the Dandenongs… why not?

Unique original work. Digital print on canvas with mirror image gallery wrap for stretcher. Stretcher and frame not included.
