The Story

This painting was completed plein air from the banks of Wallis lake where my hammock was set up. Wallis lake is a beautifully crystal green, shallow water located north of Seal Rocks and south of Forster NSW. This particular weekend was fairly overcast with sporadic rain and sun which added to the drama of the place.

Materials and Process

This one of a kind painting was created in high quality artists oil on a sheet of canvas paper. A paintbrush was used initially, however, a palate knife was used for the majority of the piece. The paper is clipped to a board on an easel during work. On completion, the paper is slotted into a custom made carrier which holds it by the edges and allows the wet paint to dry undisturbed. This is very important, as oil can take weeks to be dry to the touch and months/years to fully cure. This being said, this painting is sold unvarnished. A final varnish can be applied to the surface late 2019. This painting is unframed.
