Botanic Gardens by Donina Asera – In a departure from my recent abstract work, I’m making available one of my old etchings.

This is an original monoprint etching and mixed media piece created in 2017, inspired by the reeds and reflections in the lake at Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens, which I used to walk past every morning.

The etching was created on my own etching press on beautiful archival-quality acid free Somerset Satin White 250gsm paper in tones of blue-blacks and blue-greys, and a very faint tint of yellow-green at the very bottom centre. It has been subtly enhanced in some areas in pencil to push contrasts.

Being a monoprint, this is a unique and individual piece in the same way an original painting is unique and individual. It will require framing; I think with a matt would look best.

What is a monoprint?

A monoprint is a form of printmaking where the image can only be made once, unlike most printmaking which allows for multiple originals.
