*** TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE – AT EXHIBITION NOVEMBER 7th-10th – AT MOUNT COOT-THA BOTANIC GARDENS, BRISBANE ***

On Sunday mornings I volunteer with my local Bushcare group – we plant native plants and maintain our local parkland, in effort to create more habitat for native species. The Boobook owl is one of the bird species we’ve all been hoping would come to live in our park. Imagine everyone’s surprise when one of these beautiful owls was discovered living in a local resident’s front garden instead!

I painted this watercolour study after observing and photographing this beautiful owl in the local suburban front yard. I tried to capture the owl’s incredible eyes, and detail around the face. I allowed the rest of the owl’s feathers to dissipate into a looser, expressive style, then fade out into the background. As a study, it was intended to convey the owl’s character and expression.

This watercolour on paper is UNFRAMED but can be framed upon request. 24x30cm.
