Bondi Function by Jayne Curle (The Self Conscious Extrovert) – There was obviously a celebration of some sort going on up there in that rather unusual building. Some little Jewish boys in Kippahs intermittently looked out the window amidst taunting each other. Their laughter was priceless. It took me back. I grew up regularly visiting my Mum’s best friend who shared the same religion, such fond memories. I was so intrigued at her faith: different sets of pots and pans for milk or meat, the forbidden bacon roll, the Sabbath on a different day and chicken soup with the most delectable dumplings.

I’d come to visit Bondi with the expectation of photographing the beach and I left smiling, reminiscing about the past. As I walked away I laughed. I saw the boys stick their fingers up at me. How brave, two floors up, behind a window.
