Birds and Blooms No 6 – ere is the next painting in my “Birds and Blooms” series. Although Mexican folk art is my inspiration for these bright colourful paintings, in this instance I have given it a distinct Australian focus. The vibrant colours of the Gouldian finch presented me with quite a challenge as I did not want to use the colours of the birds in the background. After much deliberation, trial and error I settled on these hues for the gum leaves and flowers . This is the 3rd one done on a board and I am thrilled with it. I applied clear gesso to the board as I love the look of the raw wood grain rather than painting the background, so will be searching for boards with as much wood grain as possible. Do hope this painting brightens up your life as much as it did mine in making it!

This painting is signed on the front and a laminated, numbered Certificate of Authenticity is included. Sprayed with protective gloss varnish.
