Bioluminous Storm Surge IV by Jacquelyn Stephens

This is an original, one off, large abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.

This big painting allows you to come in close to experience and enjoy this painting inspired by storms, the sea, molecular and microscopic life.

‘Bioluminous Storm Surge IV’ belongs to my ‘Aquatic’ Series. It is representative of my exploration into the microscopic minutiae of life with all its order & chaos and interest in water. I delve into the beautiful parallels of art with science that I have bound with my love of floaty effervescent underwater life. All the stuff that is so very real but cannot be seen with our normal everyday eyesight.

The big. The tiny. The sea. The sea storms. The surf wash and foam. Falling rain. Water molecules. These things I think about and look at when I create these paintings. They can be viewed as minuscule cell life just as easily as floating jelly-fish swarms or an incoming storm with all the tensions and fluidity of rain.

In this painting the light and dark and subtle colours create an otherworldly tranquillity. It continues with my fascination in the sublime of micro-worlds, biology, all things water and sea-life. The circular organic motifs and the organic cluster patterns allude to cellular life forms, dainty aquatic-life and to the visceral otherworldliness of the building blocks of life like cells, amoeba and molecules. Sublime and beautiful yet also possessing a feeling of fragility and vulnerability.

”I feel like I am gently floating like jelly-fish” is a lovely comment I so often receive from this series.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as creating a talking point for years to come.

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.

The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 3.5cm deep out from your wall.

The edges are cleaned, staple free and painted an elegant black to compliment this painting.

Ready to put on your wall with hanging wire on back.

Painting is signed and titled verso.
