Additional Information

Beneath the Surface XVI – This is a large original abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall. ‘Beneath the Surface XVI ’ comes from my ‘Aqueous’ series of painting inspired by all things Microscopic, Sub-atomic and Aquatic and especially my love of the sea and its beauty on a big and miniscule scale.

The universally big. The tiny. The sea. The molecules. The microscopic. These things I think about and look at when I create these paintings. They can be viewed as miniscule cell life just as easily as a rock formations or an underwater garden with floating coral blooms. The gentle flow of water, invisible under currents, drifts, ebbs and flows. I find these things beautiful and soothing just like creating art.

I just love the dramatic contrast of lights and darks I have used in this painting. My choices were inspired by looking into the tiny sea life of rock pools on the Victorian coast. The growth clusters of sea-life like muscles, anemones and algae’s against the dark basalt rock formations. There is much for the eye to enjoy and explore on the shoreline and in the enchanting and detailed surface of this painting.

”I feel like I am gently floating like jelly-fish” is a lovely comment I so often receive from this series.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls finesse and a splash of colour for years to come.

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite satin sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.

The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 3.5cm deep. The edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a rich black colour to compliment the painting.
