The colours and the light were all captured with a variety of mark making. Negative spaces in the work are as much the primary influence as the colour combinations of leaf and blossom.
Banksias exhibit a variety of shapes that correspond to the lifecycle of the flower. It is a remarkable Australian Native, resilient and hopeful – not a bad mascot for this year of the Covid pandemic.
The light play through the tree evokes the feel of long summer days on the coast.
