At First Light: In the Dreaming (Jabiru) by Lorissa Manners – Acrylic on Canvas

This stunning 3m artwork by Australian Landscape Artist Lorissa Manners, was originally commissioned as a environmental conservation piece of the Sunshine Coast wetlands for a prominent art collection of landscapes of the region. It features two endangered species the Jabiru and the Fritillary butterfly. It is entitled, At First Light: In the Dreaming, as the sky above the wetlands is beginning to show in the misty dawn light.

The Jabiru is Australia’s largest wading bird and our only stork. It stands 1.3m-1.5m in height and its wingspan is a massive 2.3m from tip to tip. The head colour is an amazing glossy, shimmery black with blue, green and purple. Hidden in the grasses is the endangered fritillary butterfly.
