Additional Information

Studying the old masters was part of my Visual Art Diploma. The Dutch Painter Johann Vermeer was one of my favourite artists and his ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ is Vermeer’s most famous oil on canvas painting.

Apparently a servant named Griet had been sitting for this painting of Vermeer while wearing his wife’s pearl earrings. In a 2013 movie with the same name, Scarlett Johannson played Griet, the girl with a pearl earring.

Wouldn’t we all like an original Vermeer in our home? This original painting was inspired by Vermeer’s ‘Girl with the Pearl earring’ and I gave it a slightly different aspect. Vermeer’s paintings were mostly very detailed portraits but rarely did he incorporate landscape into his paintings. In this ‘Appropriation’ of the Girl with a Pearl Earring, I have replaced the girls headscarf with the painting of a landscape to combine landscape and portrait  in an abstract version.

PLEASE NOTE that colours may differ from original painting on monitor screens, mobile devices and tablets. Artwork displayed in rooms are for the purpose of demonstration only and not always to the exact scale. Please check dimensions for actual size. Other frames shown in the display are a suggestion only.
The Artwork is signed on the front. A signed Certificate of Authenticity will be attached to the back of the painting. Your painting will be packed with extra care in a sturdy cardboard box and shipped out within 1-3 business days.
