Sarah Park is an Australian contemporary figurative and still life artist, focusing on evocative moments and the corporeal aesthetic. Her paintings are defined by deep contrasts mixed with her soft transitional tones. Accomplished technically with the brush and behind the lens, Sarah’s genre of contemporary realism reveals a mature level of skill in telling a transformative story behind her subjects through the use of carefully composed scenes, soft velvety colour blends and close attention to the shifts in light and shadow play.
Born in 1984, Sarah Park completed a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Art (Mq Uni) which was followed by a Masters in Art and a Masters in Fine Art by Research at UNSW COFA. During this time, she won the 2011 Jenny Birt Award for Painting and Drawing, and the UNSW Engineering Photography Prize. Sarah was selected as a finalist for many notable prizes including the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing, the Fisher’s Ghost Award, the Broken Hill Art Prize and the Lethbridge Small Scale Art Prize, just to name a few. In 2012, Sarah was selected to feature on the ‘Discovery’ page of ‘Artist Profile’ magazine, Issue 21. She is also a finalist in the 2022 Art Lovers Australia Prize.
