Sam Suttie originally from South Africa made the move to Queensland Australia in 2008. The transition effectivity stunted her creative growth, adjusting to a new environment became the focus.
Suttie completed her Bachelors degree in Visual Communication at Griffith University in 2010. It would be another nine years before she would return to painting. ” The time was just right”
Suttie creates paintings in oil on canvas. Using the still life format as a framework for storytelling, processing thoughts and feelings. The result is a snapshot at a moment in time where although the objects are still they buzz with symbolism and meaning. Suttie has enjoyed success in her short career thus far being selected as a finalist in a number of art prizes, participating in a number of groups and two Solo Art shows. Her work can be seen in select galleries in NSW, QLD and Canberra.
