Phuong Ly depicts iconic buildings, cityscapes and landscapes of many Australian cities into his paintings using watercolour and other medium. Phuong Ly loves to paint social activities and the features of architectures that he captures in his everyday life. Phuong Ly concentrates on the values of shapes, forms and the shadows to emphasise the atmosphere and the sense of place in his artworks. His paintings show the depth of the space and the liveliness of integrated components such as people, cars, and buildings.

Phuong Ly has been painting all his life living in Brisbane, Australia. He has used watercolour as a favourite medium in most of his paintings while experiencing with many other kinds of mediums in the passion for painting, for instance, crayon, acrylic and oil.
Phuong Ly loves to pick up beautiful and stunning views of the landscape, including cityscape and seascape into his artworks. His artworks reflect the sense of place where he has examined and observed on the way he has visited. He is also interested in drawing people whom he meets in his everyday life.
The artworks that Phuong Ly has done show his favourite style of Impressionism and Realism. He uses strong colours and dark shadows to emphasise the focal point or the theme of communication. In the future, he will explore different art styles such as Cubism, Abstract and Minimalism for his art to describe the life and the built and natural environment.
