Nerrida Parfitt’s contemporary oil paintings explore the Australian landscape with a focus on an unconventional beauty of abandoned buildings and moody skies—with a hint of surrealism.
Nerrida Parfitt was born in Melbourne and grew up in a satellite city on the outskirts of the western suburbs. In a town surrounded by wide open grass plains, eucalyptus trees, and the odd historical building dotted around—her love of art was established. These visual elements have resonated through her work in recent years.
Having completed a visual arts diploma with a focus on painting, and further formal education in multimedia/web and graphic design, Nerrida has pursued a creative path in both digital and fine arts, and has been involved in numerous exhibitions including solo and group shows.
Painting from a shared studio space in regional Victoria, Nerrida finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the landscape and the historical architecture throughout the area.
Her latest work explores unconventional beauty, the vastness of the natural world and the impermanence of built environments within it—largely depicting abandoned buildings and moody skies, all with a hint of surrealism.
