Marie Tacon is a mixed media artist, who captures the Australian landscape from a bird’s eye view. She creates nature-inspired abstract compositions on canvas and paper, engaging her creative process that relies on intuition and spontaneity. The organic process of combining different materials allows her to capture land formations, oceans, beaches, and waterways as harmonious, abstract forms.
In 2020, Marie travelled around Australia in a caravan with her husband and their two children. As she traversed the country, her connection with the landscape grew stronger and more passionately. Being an ocean lover, Marie has now found new inspiration from the red desert of the Australian outback. She is fascinated with the wide-open spaces and rugged land formations in the outback, combined with the swirls of waterways and the vast oceans by the coast; the Australian landscape is her muse.
Marie’s body of work captures the diversity of the Australian landscape. From coastline to farmland, from outback desert to lush rainforest, her abstract compositions spark a conversation with the diverse terrain. Capturing the landscape from a topographical view, allows her to capture her journey through rugged Australia.
