Bega Valley - Far South Coast, NSW
Mandys original artworks are colourful, imaginitive, full of detail and often tell a story.
I am fortunate enough to live on a rural property in the breathtakingly beautiful Bega Valley on the far south coast of NSW with my partner Colin, two dogs, a cat and several freeloading horses. Some of the inspiration for my art work comes from the nature and beauty that surounds me in the valley each day, but much of what I create comes from within. I am a strong believer in the power and beauty of imagination – I enjoy creating.
I completed a Bachelor of Education in 2004 at Macquarie University in Sydney, and this was quickly followed by a very enjoyable and long teaching career in Primary and Early Childhood Education. My career working with young children has without a doubt strongly influenced my work as an artist;
My work is also strongly influenced by so many of the brilliant, imaginative and incredibly talented childrens picture book authors and illustrators (both Australian and International) that I have come across in my teaching career with young children.
I believe the ability to transport others to another place or space through story and illustration is a magical talent and I aspire to do this. I enjoy the process of creating art that is vibrant, happy, imaginative and which tells a story.
In 2012 I enrolled in a Visual Arts Degree part-time to further develop my interest, knowledge and skills and I continue the journey. I am currently enjoying exploring mixed media processes and have a preference for using acrylic and ink on large stretched canvas.
All my original artworks are sealed in a matt finish, ready to hang, signed and dated on the front & back and also come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
My hope is that others will enjoy looking at my art works as much as I enjoy creating them.
