2011-12
2011 I ran 4 (eckersleys and Collingwood gallery) exhibitions in Melbourne out of 2 galleries in the city mostly group shows. Some of those exhibitors are now famous Australian artists. In 2012 I lived in Phuket and worked for the publication out of Singapore think design magazine . Living in a hotel paid by an artist. I was one of the curators for them of a 200 artist strong international exhibition held at Phuket Royal Marina. Flying back to Australia to run a exhibition for an Australian artist in the city then returning to Phuket to respresent expat artists. From 2012 to now I’ve run many group exhibitions mostly with my art involved also. Looking back on this Sunday briefly I was attacked for not having degrees or masters in arts and little experience yet the learn as you go motto helped. Some shows were massively successful some tiny and not ever a waste of energy etc.
I remember running a show at Collingwood gallery. A curator dressed to the nines from university walked in and said could she talk to the owner. My reply why? She started telling me her university achievements knowing full well I was the curator and she wanted to apply to be the curator.
So I said he’s up the stairs.
She came back after ten minutes infuriated and walked out the door.
I said to the owner what happened he replied I told her for 10 minutes to fuckoff.
I believe art culture is as I thought back then crucial to a positive progressive society. The current flooded market I see as somewhat fascinating and not as negative as often thought. Art is fresh and yes there’s heaps out there inspired and amazing and shit. Yet culturally art has taken a real foothold in Australia and elsewhere so it can’t be all that bad.

2017- assisted indigenous artists in art show on Mornington peninsula.

2014 – did a talk at The University of Melbourne addressing mental health in a galleries practical setting. The class of to be curators.

Online Art Sale

As a creative, physical medium, art often finds it challenging to adapt. We think this is fairly ironic as art can also be fluid and open to interpretation. Why then, should the showcase of physical art, be restricted to physical galleries?

The artworld is typically a small and secluded one that doesn’t get much attention from the world of technology. We wanted to change that by merging both technology and art to create a virtual gallery and online art sale platform. It is because of its secluded nature that artists find it so hard to break through and get involved and we want to do something about that. Founders Nancy Donaldson and Jarrod Knight started out with a shared goal. To create an easily accessible place for people to see, buy, learn about, and sell art online. Art Lovers Australia has become everything that envisioned and more but most importantly, it’s a community that anyone can be a part of.

How Do I Choose from All the Amazing Art For Sale Online?

When you’re spoilt for choice, choosing your next work of art isn’t easy. Art has the ability to make you feel a range of emotions so you need to first consider the tone you want to set for the space your art will go in. Something relaxing in the living area, something playful where you host guests and something sensual for the bedroom. You don’t want the wrong artwork in the wrong room as it will throw off the mood in that particular area. Another key thing to consider when browsing all the amazing art for sale online is your budget. You don’t want to find yourself in a position where you’ve fallen head over heels for artwork that’s out of your price range. Instead of showing you art that is outside of your budget, we allow you to filter your search by price, size, colour, and even medium so you find exactly what you’re looking for when you shop for art online. While you might have an idea of the type of art you’re looking for, it’s important to keep an open mind. Instead of only looking at oil paintings for sale, try not to be so narrow in your search. Broaden it a little bit and you might be surprised by what catches your eye. It could be a photograph that steals your heart in the end.
