Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once she grows up.
I’m Louise (lu) recently relocated to the Scenic Rim Ranges, near Canungra in Queensland. My studio is outdoors, undercover with views over the Green behind the Gold (Coast). I started painting as a hobby when I retired to get out of my head, to play in an upright position; a journey that has surpassed expectations and become an enduring passion.
My creativity is inspired by a dominant visual appreciation, a lifetime passion for new ideas, risk-taking and a keen eye for the big picture (as opposed to a talent for fine detail). Sleeping with a blank canvas on the easel awakens ‘lucid dreams’ whereby I can often control the narrative.
I wake, excited to paint.
Recently, my style and focus has been refreshed by a break from painting and buying long, narrow canvas that required a different approach. I’m enamoured with the free flowing, soft effect/s required to both create a painting that is both appealing to my eye and is something I could enjoy living with. After years of experimenting and dancing with paint, I feel like I’ve found a particular ‘genre and style’ I love.
