Kirsten Chambers was born in Adelaide and received an Advanced Diploma in Art (applied and visual) from the North Adelaide School of Art in 1993, before going on to a Bachelor of Design (Illustration Design) from the University of South Australia, which was completed in 1998.
In 1999 she moved to Bangalow NSW, where she focused on painting until being bitten by the advertising bug. Kirsten then worked as a graphic designer before moving to Sydney in 2003 where she worked as an Art Director for BMF Advertising and M&C Saatchi, until she moved back to the Byron Hinterland (in 2011), where she now finally paints full time.
“I paint from life‚ with my own twist‚ because I’m trying to evoke the true character of the object‚ person‚ scene or situation I am describing. Mixing up scale and perspective allows me to paint a from a number of different viewpoints at once, in this way I am influenced by illuminated manuscripts, but I also am a big lover of colonial art and art of the Tudors.”
Kirsten has exhibited in group and solo shows throughout her career, and her works are held in private collections both in Australia and Europe. She is also a finalist in the 2022 Art Lovers Australia Prize.
