Art by definition to me is making your own choices, redefining boundaries or throwing them out completely – flouting – being in control, losing control, luxuriating in following a whim and surviving that sinking feeling when its not going as imagined to come back to it, with refreshed determination to bend it to your will and the joy of surprising results that unintentionally appear. My artwork reflects my lifestyle; a headlong freefall journey into the unanticipated and unexpected. I race as time allows, though there’s never enough, between paint to printing, mosaic occasionally and sculpture with a side turn at drawing, then its always circles back to paint with a preference for oils. Inspiration and sustenance is drawn from the outdoors, particularly the love and uniqueness of the Australian bush with an compulsive desire to capture the light, a fleeting glimpse and contemplative moment in time.
Always, the next ideas are bubbling away, waiting to emerge,, competing with the necessities of daily life/work. The real joy is in the process, immersed, as time stands still heedless of the ever ticking clock, within another realm of timelessness.
