Award winning printmaker, Jennifer also works with paint, ink and collage. Across these mediums she explores Australian seascapes, landscapes and the urban architecture and landmarks of Canberra. Her happy and sometimes naive work is all about colour and strong lines. A direction towards minimalism is also emerging.

‘There is no greater accolade an artist can receive, than someone loving your art and placing it in their home.’ Jennifer Baird.
Jennifer Baird began her artistic journey at the Bondi markets, painting seascapes in gouache. She admits that some of these looked like she was ‘in a bit of a hurry’. She lived in Sydney for 20 years and the passion for this city is still evident in her work. Jennifer now calls Canberra home and her art is now also influenced by the landscapes, seasons, colours and lines of this modern city.
A stillness is emerging in her work, using ink on screen prints, collages in found papers and painting with a palette knife, in oils and acrylics. The sea is not far away, exploring the South coast of NSW, particularly Jervis Bay.
2023 sees her continuing her exploration of lithography at Megalo Print Studios in Canberra. ‘I used to look into the litho studio and think what do they do with the stones? It has taken my printmaking and art practice to the next level which is very exciting.’ Jennifer Baird.
Joint winner of the inaugural Sheridan Evans award for artwork relating to ocean pools, for her lino print ‘Pools of Sydney’.
Highly commended in the Waverley Art Prize 2017, for her lino print ‘George Baldessin meets Andy Warhol’.
