Barossa Valley, South Australia
Janelle is an artist from the Barossa Valley, South Australia, living and creating with her young family on a vineyard acreage in the hills of Seppeltsfield. Janelle’s daily life is framed by nature in all its wild seasonal elements and is constantly inspired by nature’s intrinsic imperfection and unapologetic expression of life. This integrity to the moment is what Janelle looks to express in her work.
Janelle’s work is heavily informed by the natural rural environment surrounding her home and her experience of these constantly ever changing elements. Expressing her felt sense of the world through her creative expression helps Janelle to be grounded and connected, balancing peace amongst the bigness of this world, honouring her human experience in place.
Janelle’s visual expression taps into the unspoken and the unseen of ordinary everyday life, tender felt moments of meaning and belonging, stirring a lucid resonance held in shape, line and colour.
Janelle works with acrylics, graphite and pastels on varying surfaces to create emotive abstracts, and in photography through her ‘Self Pollinate’ print series. Janelle aspires to create a palpable resonance of her human experience into works of art that speak of the very core of who she is, and therefore speak to the very core of the viewer, to express the language of this common place and motivate human connection and meaning.
