Hi, my name is Deanne Newland. I am an artist living and creating art in Swansea Heads, NSW.
I love to make art and have been doing so from a young age.
I come from an artistic family and was raised to be a creative thinker.
I have been a practising artist for 30 years.
My studio -The Artistic Soul Studio is my retreat. I spend a lot of time in there with my dogs/cats pondering, creating art, listening to music and teaching.
My contemporary paintings and drawings are inspired by the Australian coastline and just recently figures in the landscape. I love to paint trees.
I use a variety of mediums such as inks, acrylic paint and drawing mediums.
My landscapes have been inspired by the textures and colours of our land.
The inspiration for my trees come from my childhood home. It had hand-painted wood grain on the doors and door frames. My great grandfather had a painting business and they specialised in detailed painting effects These familiar images inspired me to create the close-up view of gum tree trunks. Whilst I am creating them, I remember the smell of the varnish, subtle use of natural colours and the beautiful organic patterns.
Most of my paintings are intuitive. I do not copy a photograph. Each artwork evolves as I create them. They are memories of the places I have been to.
My trees and coastal paintings are extremely popular. They have been acquired by overseas collectors, hospitals, corporations, and private collectors.
Just recently my art was selected for the upcoming exhibition -Reconnected at the MAC Lake Macquarie Gallery and Museum.
I hope you enjoy my art and it takes you to a happy place.
Cheers
Deanne
