Caroline Wislers work focuses on using the historical photographic medium Cyanotype. She creates stunning blue and white pieces capturing the movement, beauty, and elegance of her subjects.
After painting ‘en plein air’ (outside) for many years, Caroline discovered the nineteenth century technique of Cyanotype. With her love for the raw, organic beauty of the landscape and its subjects she is able to capture nature in its most organic state. This 178 year old photographic medium allows her to create stunning imagery through the direct transfer of plant and found materials. The Cyanotype process harnesses natures’ natural energy, the sun, to capture the marks, shadows, silhouettes, and outlines of found flora and other objects. Her practice is informed and inspired according to the landscape she is working within and the materials found there. The complexity of form within her works create dynamic imagery full of movement, beauty, and elegance. With 2020’s ‘Colour of the Year’ being ‘Classic Blue’ her work is the perfect fit as a timeless and stylish look for any interior.
